Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
PolyBlocks Vision VR is currently available on the App Store and Google Play Store for both iOS and Android smartphones. To fully experience the gameโs VR features, your device must have a built-in gyroscope sensor.
To get the full experience, PolyBlocks Vision VR requires two key components:
๐ฎ A Bluetooth Controller (e.g., PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X, 8BitDo, or any standard Bluetooth controller)
๐ฅฝ A Mobile VR Headset (e.g., Google Cardboard or any similar viewer that fits your phone)
During development, we tested with the following gear โ feel free to use these if they work for you!
VR Headset: Google Cardboard Daydream Slate VR Headset
Bluetooth Controllers: PlayStation 4 Controller, 8BitDo Zero 2 Keychain Controller
๐ Note: We are not affiliated with or sponsored by any of these products. Use at your own discretion.
PolyBlocks Vision VR is built with the Unity Game Engine, which uses a system called PlayerPrefs to store important gameplay variables โ like your control preferences, calibration settings, and other configuration data โ directly on your device. This ensures your settings are remembered the next time you play, even after you close the app. Thatโs why the game requests file/storage access at launch.
The camera permission comes from the Google Cardboard SDK, which originally used your deviceโs camera to scan a QR code for headset setup.
๐ This feature is optional and not needed to play. You can safely skip or deny camera access without affecting your gameplay experience.
PolyBlocks Vision VR gives you full control over your input setup, with three configurable control types:
๐ฎ Gameplay Controls โ Adjust how you control falling blocks during gameplay.
๐ Location: Main Menu > Settings > Gameplay Controls
๐ฅ๏ธย UI Controls โ Customize how you navigate menus and interface screens.
๐ Location: Main Menu > Settings > UI Controls
๐ ๏ธ Calibration Controls โ Adjust screen positions to match your unique eye alignment, helping both eyes comfortably fuse visuals together for a more effective and personalized experience.
๐ Location: Main Menu > Settings > Calibration Controls
Each section allows you to remap buttons based on your preferences and the Bluetooth controller youโre using.
PolyBlocks Vision VR gives you full control over your visual experience, with customizable display and accessibility settings designed to match your unique vision needs:
๐๏ธ Visual Configuration Settings โ Personalize how the game is presented to each eye for comfort, visual clarity, and effective visual engagement.
๐ Location: Main Menu > Settings > Accessibility Controls & Sound
โข ๐ Switch Eye Screens โ Choose which eye sees the falling blocks and which sees the set blocks, allowing you to adapt gameplay based on the strength of each eye for a more balanced and effective experience.
โข ๐งฉ Block Animation Toggle โ Customize block animations on or off based on your comfort, giving you control over visual intensity for a more personalized and enjoyable experience.
โข ๐ Background Animation Toggle โ Adjust background movement to suit your preference, creating a more comfortable and focused gameplay environment.
โข โ๏ธ Per-Eye Brightness (Alpha Controls) โ Independently adjust brightness for each eye to help compensate for differences in visual strength, supporting improved clarity and balance so your brain can combine both images for successful gameplay.
These settings allow players to tailor the experience to their specific visual condition, supporting both comfort and more effective gameplay.
In PolyBlocks Vision VR, you can fine-tune the placement of each screen (left and right eye) on the Calibration Screen to ensure your brain successfully processes the complete image.
Head to: ๐ Main Menu > Screen Configuration
On the calibration screen, youโll see similar images shown on both sides, each with unique missing pieces. The goal is to adjust the screens so the two images visually align โ helping your brain fuse them into a single, coherent picture.
๐ ๏ธ Calibration Options:
Move Screen Position โ Shift either screen horizontally or vertically.
Example: If your left eye drifts outward, move the left screen to the left so the two images align better.
Rotate Screen โ Rotate either screen clockwise or counter-clockwise to better match angles between both eyes.
Switch Selected Screen โ Toggle between adjusting the left or right screen. A quick message will appear letting you know which screen is currently selected.
Save & Exit โ Exit back to the main menu. Your calibration will be saved and applied automatically to gameplay.
๐ฎ Default Controls (Controller-based):
Screen Movement: Left Stick or D-Pad
Rotation: Triggers or Bumpers
Switch Selected Screen: Select Button
Exit Calibration: Start/Back/Menu Button
๐ง Note: These controls can be customized in Main Menu > Settings > Calibration Controls.

If you accidentally assign the same button to both Enter and Exit in the UI Controls menu, it can interfere with proper navigation in the game.
๐ง Temporary Fix: The current solution is to delete the app from your device and reinstall PolyBlocks Vision VR from the Google Play Store. This will reset your control settings to default.
๐ ๏ธ Good news: A proper fix for this issue is planned in a future update, so accidental remapping wonโt break navigation permanently.
